About card networks

What a payment network does

A payment network carries transaction information between the merchant, the card issuer, and other parties involved in authorization and settlement. The network shown on a crypto card helps determine where the card can be used, but it does not by itself set the rewards, annual fee, custody model, or conversion terms.

Network versus card issuer

The issuer or program manager owns the customer relationship and card terms. Visa, Mastercard, or American Express provides the payment rails. Compare the specific card’s fees and rewards even when two cards use the same network.

Acceptance can still vary

Network acceptance does not guarantee that every transaction will work. Geography, merchant category restrictions, supported funding assets, account status, and the card program’s own rules can all affect availability.
