How earning works

Savings lets an eligible customer allocate a supported balance and receive rewards on the platform’s schedule. This is not native staking for assets such as BTC or stablecoins. The return depends on CEX.IO’s product terms and use of the asset, so it carries exchange and counterparty exposure.

Staking applies to supported proof-of-stake assets. CEX.IO manages the validator process and credits rewards after its service terms. The asset list, payout timing, and withdrawal process vary. Rates, fees, and requirements

Rates differ by asset and product. A maximum may be tied to a promotional term, balance cap, or product no longer available in every location. Check the rate shown after sign-in, whether it is APR or APY, the minimum allocation, payout schedule, and redemption time.

CEX.IO publishes a long supported-country list, but Savings and Staking specifically exclude U.S. customers. Identity verification and account eligibility should be confirmed even though the legacy CMS field currently says KYC is not required. Product access can be narrower than access to the exchange itself.

Custody and key risks

CEX.IO controls assets placed in Savings or Staking. Customers face exchange failure, account restrictions, operational delays, and changing rates. Savings may add borrower or counterparty risk, while staking adds validator penalties and network withdrawal delays. Stablecoins can lose their target value, and no crypto balance should be described as federally insured.
