Onboard Flex Card Review
The Onboard Flex Card is a prefunded, USD-denominated virtual Visa designed for people who need reliable international online and mobile-wallet payments. It can be funded with supported local currencies, USDT, USDC, or an Onboard balance, then used at eligible Visa merchants.
The first virtual card is free and additional Flex cards cost $2 each. There is no annual fee and no fee for declined transactions (up to a limit). USD purchases are free. Onboard lists a $0.30 + 1.5% charge for non-USD purchases and cross-border USD transactions.
Onboard currently lists a 1.25% card-funding fee. Network-specific base charges may also apply to some stablecoin deposits. These funding costs matter when comparing the card with products that credit stablecoin deposits at or near 1:1.
The default spending limits are $5,000 per day and $20,000 per month. The Flex card is virtual only, but it can be added to Apple Pay or Google Wallet for eligible in-store contactless payments.
The card is not available to users in the United States or other restricted jurisdictions. Visa acceptance does not guarantee every payment will work: regional restrictions, prohibited merchant categories, compliance rules, and point-of-sale limitations can still cause transactions to fail.
Onboard does not currently advertise cashback or purchase rewards for the Flex Card. Its main use case is easier access to USD-denominated spending for eligible users in markets where international cards and online USD payments can be difficult to obtain.
